cpu-executes instructions, controls the flow of data, and performs logic decisioins.

expansion slots-part of motherboard that allows connection of circut boards with additional ports.

flash memory-removable memory used in small hand-held dvices, such as cell phone, digital camera,ect.

gui-lets user operates the mouse to point and click on graphic icons representing files, programs, ect.

hard drive-removable storage used to hold software and data on a computer system.

hardware-physical parts of a computer system including input, output,storage, and other devices.

input device-any device that accepts data from the user, such as th keyboard or mouse.
linux-operaing system based on unix that permits any programmer to improve upon it an available as freeware.
macOS-operating system of macintosh line of computer.
mainframe-computer system used by large organizations that can support many users and large databases.
minicomputer-computer system smaller and less powerful than a mainframe but can do some of the same things.
motherboard-main circuit board containing a computers cpu,memory ect.
OS-software program that oversees and controls everything that happens while computer is goin on.
output device-part of computer system that displays info to the user.
platform-combination of hardware and OS that defines the types of programs and devives your computer will support.
professional workstatiom-computer system smaller than a minicomputer but more powerful than most computers.
RAM-computers primary memory that temporarily stores info while the computer is turned on.
ROM-part of computer where it perminently stores info even if computer is turned off.
supercomputer-computer that is faster and more powerful than a mainframe.
syntax-structure of entering comnds including spellng,grammer, ect.
system software-software necessary to opreate and maintain a computer system.
system unit-case that holds the main internal circutry of a computer.
user interface-visual portion of the OS that determines the manner in which users interact with computer.
utility program-program that assists the user in maintaining an improving the OS.
virus-program designed as a prank that replicates itself from one computer to another.
windows-comman name of the family OS with graphical uder interfaces.
